M40 Writing Machine, the typewriter produced by Olivetti who pretended in international markets and dedicated to offices and journalistic editorial offices.
The M40 Olivetti was designed between 1929 and 1930 by Camillo Olivetti to replace the Olivetti M20.
Although presented during the period of the Great Depression, the M40 was highly appreciated for its quality, speed of writing and lightness of touch of the keyboard (of the QZERTY type, as was the common on Italian writing machines).
In addition to the writing keys, the keyboard includes a spacial bar, two capital keys, a fixamcole key, the return button, a button releases margin and, in some versions, of 8 regisking/deregistable decimal tabs through a further two keys. Finally, there are two keys for the choice of the color of the ribbon.
It was completely produced in full iron, for a weight that exceeds 20 kg. The design and initiation of production lasted more than expected due to the precision of the teaming that it wanted to give to the machine. When he finally entered production, despite a period of crisis such as that of the great depression, he found the favor of customers, who appreciated the greater quality, the writing speed and the lightness of touch of the keyboard.
After the M20, with which Olivetti had entered the international markets, with the M40 he competed with the most renowned machines to write.
The Olivetti company was born on October 29, 1908. The founder, ing. Camillo Olivetti on the roof of the two -storey red brick factory had a billboard positioned, almost as large as the east side of the building, which reported the writing: ing. C. Olivetti & C. First national team factory.
The conditions of the object are perfect. There are no traces of rust or wear. The typewriter has been held in the display case for over 50 years.
Máquina de escribir M40, la máquina de escribir producida por Olivetti que pretendía en los mercados internacionales y dedicada a oficinas y redacciones periodísticas.
La Olivetti M40 fue diseñada entre 1929 y 1930 por Camillo Olivetti para sustituir a la Olivetti M20.
Aunque se presentó durante el periodo de la Gran Depresión, la M40 fue muy apreciada por su calidad, velocidad de escritura y ligereza al tacto del teclado (de tipo QZERTY, como era habitual en las máquinas de escribir italianas).
Además de las teclas de escritura, el teclado incluye una barra espaciadora, dos teclas mayúsculas, una tecla fixamcole, el botón de retorno, un botón libera margen y, en algunas versiones, de 8 pestañas decimales regisking/deregistable a través de otras dos teclas. Por último, hay dos teclas para la elección del color de la cinta.
Se fabricó completamente en hierro, para un peso que supera los 20 kg. El diseño y el inicio de la producción duraron más de lo previsto debido a la precisión del mecanizado que se quería dar a la máquina. Cuando por fin entró en producción, a pesar de un periodo de crisis como el de la gran depresión, encontró el favor de los clientes, que apreciaron la mayor calidad, la velocidad de escritura y la ligereza de tacto del teclado.
Después de la M20, con la que Olivetti había entrado en los mercados internacionales, con la M40 compitió con las máquinas de escribir más renombradas.
La empresa Olivetti nació el 29 de octubre de 1908. El fundador, ing. Camillo Olivetti, en el tejado de la fábrica de ladrillo rojo de dos plantas tenía colocado un cartel publicitario, casi tan grande como el lado este del edificio, en el que aparecía escrito: ing. C. Olivetti & C. Primera fábrica de equipos nacionales.
Las condiciones del objeto son perfectas. No hay rastros de óxido ni de desgaste. La máquina de escribir ha permanecido en la vitrina durante más de 50 años.
