Natalia is a ceramic artist who currently lives and creates in Amsterdam.
Her aim is to create products of the highest quality that will be functional as well as decorative and aesthetic. She creates her original pieces using stoneware and porcelain. All pieces are handmade, from start to finish, using a variety of techniques such as wheel throwing, hand building, slip casting. Many are thrown on a pottery wheel and then altered before being fired twice and then hand painted. Natalia draws her inspiration in nature. She is passionate about our environment; her work very often represents the impact of human actions and the damage it is causing to the environment in particular oceanic ecosystems. Her current work is influenced by corals and sea life: 'Coral reefs are key indicators of global ecosystem health. They serve as an early warning sign of what may happen to other less sensitive systems if the climate change is not urgently addressed. I like to use clay to represent impacted coral reefs and juxtapose this with representations of thriving sea life'.
