El título hace referencia a la famosa figura histórica de Tomás de Torquemada fue el primer inquisidor de la Inquisición española durante la época de los Reyes Católicos. Confesor de Isabel de Castilla y Fernando de Aragón, instituyó juicios muy duros contra los conversos, es decir, los judíos que se convertían al cristianismo no por su voluntad, pero también para los musulmanes y las mujeres acusadas de brujería, infligiendo muy a menudo graves torturas.Durante el periodo de Tomàs de Torquemada los juicios fueron casi 20 mil y las ejecuciones alrededor de 2000 Louis Touchagues (1893 - 1974) Llegado a París en 1923, Touchagues traza con la punta de su lápiz o de su pincel, medio siglo de vida parisina.
