Pair of religious background paintings depicting the "Penitent Maddalena" and "Madonna with Child" by Mildu du Morvain, works signed and dated both at the bottom left, oil on ivory. The Maddalena is dated 1847 and is portrayed in his repentance in obsequious devotion, with hands gone to the chest and a languid and fervent look, with the very long red, wavy and silky hair. Around her the painter choose to portray the nothing, the dark nude of a room the island and envelops it in the mystical stracio, concentrating I look at the spectator only on his physicality of the Holy. The iconographic fortune of the Penitent Maddalena especially starting from the Renaissance has a fairly clear iconographic antesignant and is the penitent Maddalena of Tiziano of Florence or the same as the Tiziano preserved at the Capodimonte Museum of Naples, moment when Santa is almost always retracted to breast Nude, with long and sensual hair and young and bright complexion, an image that seems most intended to enjoy the eyes than to devotional fervor. It became in the collective imagination sinners and at the same time penitent, prostitute and at the same time Holy, his aura lives in the ambivalence of sacred and profane, in a changing balance between the sensuality of the sin and his spiritual ascent in repentance. All this we find it in this masterpiece of Mildu du Murvain. Even the Madonna with the child, dated to 1848, finds possible prodroms in the sixteenth-century Italian painting and is certainly inspired by Tizianeschi models, of which probably Mildu Murvain was aware of. The Virgin is dressed here according to the colors that the canonical iconography attributes it, or the blue and rose, cultured when wrapping the child in the whiteness of the linen cloth by loading the religious icon of human and universal values, own of Any mother towards her son. Here too the scene is clearly silhouetted from the almost monochrome bottom while a moving linen of linen makes its dignity appeared above the shelf where you can see the signature and the date of the artist. Unusual the choice of ivory support as well as the choice of the material of the beautiful COEVE frames made of chiseled and gold bronze. The frames are worthy of mention being characterized by an elaborate processing of chiseling. Provenance: France (1847) Measurements: 27x30cm. Documents: certificate of authenticity.
Procedencia: Francia (1847) Medidas: 27x30cm. Documentos: certificado de autenticidad.
