Pair of Danish Modern Teak Bookcase by Johannes Sorth, 1960s
This Classic Scandinavian bookcase was designed by Danish master carpenter Johannes Sorth for Nexø Møbelfabrik, Bornholm in 1956. The idea was to combine a cabinet and a bookcase, and it was and instant success.
It was produced in five different versions, and this version has three wide shelves and a cabinet with double sliding doors and shelf. It can stand alone or be combined with other book cases from the same series.
Loads of storage space in the large cabinet, and the wide top shelves are height adjustable for individual needs. Standing on round tapered legs.
This set has been standing next to each other since 1964, so they have the same lovely light patina. Indeed a rare pair.
Very good handbuilt quality. True craftsmanship from the Danish Mid-Century Modern era.
Model number stamped on back.
Amazingly good condition. Only few signs of use. All surfaces has been gently cleaned, oiled and polished.
