Peter Mabeo is certainly one of the most adventurous and talented people working in the design world today. Based out of Gaborone, Botswana, he is not only designing and producing his own work, he's commissioning and producing the work of internationally renowned talent like Patricia Urquiola, Patty Johnson, and Luca Nichetto, as well as working to support many of the local craftsmen. Working with these craftsmen in Africa, Mabeo aims to help preserve traditional hand craft methods that might otherwise be lost such as: pottery, basket weaving, textile making, and carpentry. He will be presenting a whole new colleciton at Spazio Orlandi in Milan for Salone del Mobile and I cannot wait to see the new pieces!
