Victoria & Albert Museum

About this Museum

Based in London, the Victoria and Albert Museum is the world’s largest museum of decorative arts and design, holding over 4.5 million objects in its permanent collection from ancient times to the present day. Its curatorial departments include Sculpture, Metalwork, Ceramics & Glass, Furniture, Textiles & Fashion, Asian Arts, and Words & Images.

The furniture and woodwork collection alone contains nearly 13,000 objects, with a particular strength in British furniture made between the 18th and 20th centuries. In addition to the vast permanent collection, the V&A mounts multiple temporary exhibitions per year on a variety of historical and contemporary material culture topics, from costume in film to the latest experiments in digital technology.
